How To Verify Google Authorship

How To Verify Google Authorship
Hi friends, sometimes while searching something on the net, you might have seen that in some of the results, the profile picture of the website owner appears in the search results. Do you know what is that...?? That is the result of Google Authorship Verification, it means that the user whose picture is appearing with the search results is a verified author of the website. So, I am going to tell you the whole procedure to verify your ownership with your blog/site.

What Is Needed Before Starting The Tutorial:
  • Blogger Blog OR Any website you own.
  • Your Google+ profile url. Create one if you haven't created.
  • An "About Me" page in your blog/website.
  • A square shaped profile picture must be uploaded in your Google Plus profile. This picture is going to appear with your site's search results.
Now, if you have everything ready I mentioned above, let's start:
> First of all,  add your "Google Plus Profile Link" anywhere in your blog sidebar using the following code:
<a href="Google Plus Profile Link" rel="author" target="_blank">Join me on Google+</a>
(Replace Google Plus Profile Link with your google plus profile link. It looks like: https://plus.google.com/111111112222222233333) I have added this link with Subscription Area of my sidebar.

> Now, add the link of your site's "About Me" page just below the footer of your blog. Add the link using this code:
<a rel="author" href="YOUR ABOUT ME PAGE LINK">About</a>
about us page link in footer
> Now, in your about me page, add your square profile picture. For better results, start the first line of paragraph with your Google Plus profile link, using this code:
<a href="YOUR GOOGLE PLUS PROFILE LINK" rel="me" title="AUTHOR NAME">AUTHOR NAME</a>

> Now go to your google plus profile and click EDIT PROFILE. Scroll down the page and there you will see CONTRIBUTOR TO and LINKS options. Just add you profile links and blog/site url in the fields as shown in the image. Don't forget to add the link of About Me page also. After adding the links, click "SAVE CHANGES".

> Upload a nice square profile pic of yours in your google plus profile. Skip this step if already done.
> Now, go to http://profiles.google.com/me/plusones and click EDIT PROFILE and check the SHOW THIS TAB ON YOUR PROFILE option. Finally, click SAVE.
> That's it. You are done with the verification of google authorship. It may take upto 48 hours to appear your profile picture in your site's search results. So, don't panic if you are unable to see your profile picture in your site's search results.
